recovery workbook worldwide for refugee children of disasters

Sebastopol, California

Cause Description:
A workbook is being translated for the children of refugees from disasters into several languages by a mother, Nina Forest, and her young adult disabled daughter, Fawn Forest, who have recently relocated to Santa Rosa. The head of a private Catholic school in Nepal, Asoke Thepa--who works from 2 offices, one in San Francisco and one in Kathmandu-- has arranged for 2 young women from Nepal to come work together with Nina & Fawn on the first translation. A multilingual former accountant, now stay at home mother, Natasha Singh, who hosts spiritual gatherings in her home in Washington State, will coordinate the translations for the areas of disaster in India. The worst natural disasters of 2015 occurred in India, Nepal, Malawi, and Ethiopia. Nina also has connections through an African railway project to which she devotes her time the needed source of translators for the affected African countries. Fawn first created these 2 workbooks for children fleeing the Katrina disasters to the Fort Worth Will Rogers Colosseums, where the content was used in playgroups co-conducted by Nina. Later, the first book was given a spot at a NYC Independent Publisher's Festival. The second workbook, which focuses on grieving loss of place-- inspired by the Indonesian tsunamis that followed Katrina-- was edited with contributions of graphic art by someone in the diversity department of the University of Indiana at Bloomington. This workbook was for awhile made available for use by interested parties in World Relief leading after-school groups for refugee children in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. A Congressman's office in Illinois will arrange quickly the temporary visas.
