Cause Description:
Incorporated in 1983, Sinergia’s mission is to enhance the well being of individuals and families through the human delivery system(s) with particular concentration on those “special populations” that traditionally have experienced difficulty in accessing human services. The first and most immediate objective is to provide service coordination and family support to families and individuals in need. The second and longer-term goal is to provide families and individuals with the means of self-empowerment, ultimately enabling them to become their own advocates and directly assist other families. Major programs and services include: Case Management/Family Support Services, Home Care, Respite, Family Reimbursement, Legal Services, Family Care/Foster Care, Community Residences, Housing Advocacy/Assistance Neighborhood Preservation Program, Parent Education/Senior Companions, Day Habilitation; and Parent and Family Resources Centers, known as the Metropolitan Parent Center (MPC) and the Long Island Parent Center (LIPC).
